Magical Redwood Forest & Oregon Coast Elopement
Connection is one of the most important things to us, and it’s the foundation of our business and why we love photography. We like to form relationships with all of our clients, but sometimes you just REALLY vibe with people and instantly become friends - even over one FaceTime call. Jaycie & Will are two of those people! To them, we were more than just photographers- they wanted us to go on this wild adventure with them and be a part of their story. So Jaycie and Will flew us out to Oregon, and we drove down the coast to meet them in Crescent City, CA / Brookings, OR. I grew up in Oregon, so I was extremely excited to visit with Nich and capture this amazing elopement there! Fun fact, on our drive south, we stopped in Florence to eat lunch at a restaurant from my childhood and I witnessed Nich eating fish for the first time haha. My jaw literally hit the floor; we have been together for almost 6 years and I have never seen the man eat anything out of the water!
J & W got the cutest Airbnb air stream on a farm in Crescent City, which they used to get ready, do their first look, and have a private reception. They had some very last minute “hiccups” in their day, but we made the most of it and still had the absolute best time! After their first look, we went to explore the redwood forest. I think that was my favorite part of the day! We love a moody vibe and shooting in the ferns, trees, and moss really was like heaven to me. Even with the spiders and creepy crawly things. I’ll never be over those photos! Jaycie looks like a real-life fairy wood nymph queen. And we saw a banana slug, which I believe to be good luck.
Both Jaycie & Will’s parents, & their two best friends, came all the way to Oregon to attend the ceremony and celebrate. I was definitely tearing up during their vows! The way Will looks at Jaycie is so beautiful. They had wine “anniversary” box made, and they put a nice bottle of Willamette Valley wine and notes to each other inside. We had never seen that before, it was such a unique touch! After the ceremony, we headed to the beach to pop some champagne and run around together. That newly-wed joy on their faces makes my heart so happy!! Their first dance was to the song “Love is a Tuesday”. They also got their wedding bands engraved with that, and got married on a Tuesday! It was playing on their very first date, and that also just makes me feel all the feels every time I think about it.
These two are so special to us, I can’t believe we got to be there for their incredible day and capture their love! They trusted us to make it amazing, allowed us creative freedom, and went out of their way to make sure we felt appreciated! I’m so grateful that we can call you guys friends. I know we’ll be going on another adventure together soon!
