Surprise Summer Proposal in Boulder

Last month we got to capture our friends getting engaged!! Over a year ago, one of Nich’s best friends, Blaine, told us he wanted to propose to his girlfriend here in Colorado on their next vacation. They have a beautiful, special spot in Boulder that they visited 4 years ago and it was the perfect location to pop the question. It was honestly really hard to keep the secret for sooooo long! But the wait was definitely worth it and we tried our best to keep Blaine from getting too nervous.

Before they came out from Texas, we sneakily hatched this idea to offer them some photos in the mountains since they didn’t have any taken last time. The morning of, Nich and I picked up some champagne and hid it in the trunk in a cooler. We carpooled up and spent all afternoon exploring Golden to make it seem more “casual” lol. When we got to the secret spot later that evening for sunset, we promptly started a photo session like we do with all of our couples. Blaine’s cue to drop down on his knee was already agreed upon, and we stretched it out a bit to help them relax and loosen up. When the moment was right and the sun was perfectly setting behind the mountains, we played “Love Story” by Taylor Swift as he came up behind her, ring in hand. When Haley turned around, I think the world stopped for all of us! The pure joy on her face makes me tear up every time I look at these photos. On top of a mountain, she said YES! The only thing left to do was pop the champagne (which actually REALLY exploded because of the higher altitude… oops) and have a really good freaking time celebrating!

The next day, June 12th happened to be our wedding anniversary, so the four of us celebrated together at the best steakhouse in Colorado Springs. Random tangent: a man sitting next to us came up to our table as he was leaving and said “sorry to interrupt, but I just love seeing young people eating beef!” Now I do not know what that means but it will certainly stay with us forever. What a way to end the weekend!

Don’t forget to hire us to photograph your proposal and let us be your hype team! Capturing these special moments will never get old, and we’d be so thrilled to be a part of your story. A huge advantage of having two photographers is that you get two different perspectives as Nich and I see the world differently. :)
