Sunrise Elopement in Telluride, Colorado
This was an absolute dream morning for Alex & Victor. They knew they wanted to elope somewhere beautiful and epic. A big wedding was just not for them, and they were tired of waiting! They reached out to us in June and wanted to do it in the next couple of months. That might seem fast, but part of the beauty of elopements is that they don’t require exhaustive planning. You really just need each other, and we can help with the rest. They weren’t sure where in Colorado they wanted to get married, but they knew they wanted to make an adventure of it and hike at sunrise. Nich and I did some research and presented several elopement location options based on what Alex & Victor were envisioning. This is something we offer to all of our eloping couples if they need our help- we have spent years exploring Colorado and creating location lists! Alpine lakes, waterfalls, dense forests- Colorado has it all and there is a prefect spot for everyone. These two settled on Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride, which was actually a first for us and we were really excited to explore that area. Once we settled on a date, we found a cute airbnb for the night before (since we’d be up suuuuper early), Alex found the perfect dress online, and I worked on a simple timeline. This is something that I love doing and will do for any photo session/elopement. I can make sure we get amazing mountain lighting and don’t miss the sunrise!
When we met up in Telluride at the Airbnb, we learned that Nich’s mom knows Alex’s Aunt in Louisville lol. We were up too late talking probably but we were all just so excited! Then we woke up at 4:00 AM to get ready and drive to the trailhead. It was still dark by the time we started hiking and we had the whole place to ourselves! We made the hike up to the base of the waterfall right on time. Once at the top, Victor changed into his suit and went with Nich to find the perfect spot to wait, while I helped Alex change into her dress and put on her finishing touches. They wanted to do a first look, and Alex climbing up the rocky path to Victor barefoot is one of my favorite moments from this day! Their vows were beautiful and I love looking at these photos and remembering the deep love and raw emotions we captured. I mean, imagine marrying the love of your life in a landscape like this, with no one else around! Sheeeeesh.
After the ceremony, we explored the area, made some art, and had a great time riding the “just married” high with them. I can’t believe how many wildflowers there were! It’s not something we expected up there but it seemed just right for A & V. It was the most beautiful morning in one of the most beautiful places in Colorado, and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. We even had the whole place to ourselves for all of it, which is one of the biggest benefits to having a weekday/sunrise elopement. We had perfect timing, perfect weather, and I just love these two!! Let’s hang out again soon I miss you guys.
