Stormy & Dreamy Boulder Engagement Session
In Colorado the weather is wild and unpredictable. In the summer it’s extra fussy, and a storm can either come out of nowhere within 2 minutes or float away over the horizon just when you thought it was about to downpour. This dreamy engagement session with Andy & Holly is a perfect example of why we don’t usually cancel or reschedule due to “chance of thunderstorm” LOL. The weather app said 80% chance of storm on this evening but A & H were only in Colorado for the weekend for a wedding, so rescheduling wasn’t an option! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve almost canceled shoots because of sketchy weather, and then it turned out to be the most beautiful golden hour/sunset ever. So, on this July evening we all decided to take the chance and I’d say it worked out better than we could have asked for. We didn’t feel one drop of rain and the dark blue, dreamy sky was like a painting!
When Nich and I were planning the location, we wanted easy access from Denver for them but stunning, drop-dead gorgeous mountain views. We settled on these two spots in Boulder because of the unique flatirons, dreamy open fields, and an unbeatable 180 view of the mountains. And they’re only 15 minutes apart from each other! We had so much fun getting to know these two before and during the session. We like to have fun with our clients- it always feel like we’re just hanging out with friends we’ve known forever! We literally can’t enforce time restrictions because we talk and laugh too much. We also try not to “pose” our couples because we want to capture genuine emotion and their unique habits/personalities. We like to run around, play Ring Around the Rosie, and watch the falling sun over the horizon together. My favorite moment was when the sun literally exploded out of the storm clouds for approximately 90 seconds and warmed the entire frame just as A & H were cuddling in the rocks. The next day, we got to hang with them again because the wedding they attended was one that we were shooting! It was so great to see them again and out on the dance floor having a good time. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, our clients are our friends!! We attract the best people and once you find us you won’t get rid of us. Andy and Holly, we’re your biggest fans and I’m so happy you chose us!
