Why You Should Elope in Scotland
Scotland had been on Nich and I’s travel wish lists for a very long time. It shouldn’t surprise you by now that we are drawn to moody, rainy, dreamy, foggy, dark places in the world. We went in November 2023 and it was more magical than we ever expected! Scotland is a place where you really feel like the main character in your own fantasy story. The landscapes are insane, the towns whimsical and enchanting.
We started with 2 nights in Edinburgh. We bar hopped, got lost, saw the sights, drank pints of Heverlee at the pubs. We drove to Pitlochry next (shoutout Nich for driving on the left side of the road like a professional!!) and we stayed at the Fonab Castle Hotel. That bed lives in my head rent free- that hotel is everything! It’s right on the edge of a peaceful lake which we enjoyed walking around and finding mushrooms. Next we headed up to Isle of Skye, where we took a wee stroll, but really hiked the 5 miles, to the Quiraing (aka where the dragons lived). We also hiked Old Man Storr, and that was so epic because it was the end of the day, no one else was around, and the fog and rain storm rolled right in. It was spooky in the best way!
Our most favorite part of the trip, and where we would love to spend more of our time, was Glencoe. That place is pure magic, you really have to see it and feel it for yourself. It would be so incredible to elope here- the valleys, the mountains, the lakes, the town! Insane. Of course we had to take some pics of us here with the tripod. we got lucky with some fog and sunshine, but it would be just as gorgeous in a downpour.
Seriously, if these photos don’t convince you to elope in Scotland you are crazy. If they do convince you, reach out and let’s talk about having the most epic elopement adventure together!
